Uzbekistan, Pakistan eye to increase mutual trade, strengthen military-technical cooperation

At the meeting, Mirziyoyev stressed that the visit of the distinguished guest to Uzbekistan opened a new era of bilateral partnership.

“Pakistan is our reliable partner. Relations between our states are based on mutual respect and trust. Today we will raise them to the level of strategic partnership. Our interaction, despite the current difficult situation, is developing at a dynamic pace. We are interested in further expansion of ties in all spheres,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, expressing satisfaction with his stay in Uzbekistan, noted that after the start of the pandemic, this is his first foreign visit.

The main attention at the meeting was paid to the issues of strengthening political dialogue and expanding trade and economic interaction, especially in the field of investments and the implementation of large regional infrastructure projects.

It was emphasized that Uzbekistan and Pakistan, as close neighbors of Afghanistan, are interested in establishing peace and stability in this country, which will contribute to the formation of transport routes, the accelerated development of trade and economic ties in the region.

The parties also discussed the issues of increasing trade turnover, launching air cargo transportation, providing mutual preferences, ensuring regional security and strengthening military-technical cooperation.

Imran Khan expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and invited Shavkat Mirziyoyev to visit Pakistan.
