It is proposed to prohibit prison wardens from reading the letters of convicts if they are addressed to the Ombudsman or Business Ombudsman, follows from the draft law published on the portal for discussing draft normative-legal acts.
The draft document was proposed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and posted on the portal on March 9.
The MIA proposes ensuring the delivery of appeals addressed to the Ombudsman and Business Ombudsman no later than 24 hours.
“The letter sent by the Ombudsman and Business Ombudsman cannot be viewed by the administration of the institution and must be immediately brought to the attention of the applicant,” the bill says.
The draft law also refers to statements, complaints and proposals sent to the court, prosecutor, defense lawyer or state bodies authorized to conduct an investigation.
Reportedly, these changes and additions were agreed with the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor-General’s Office, the Ministry of Health and the Chamber of Lawyers.
The discussion will last until March 24.
