Orphan girls, women without breadwinners to be paid tuition fees from next academic year

According to the presidential decree “On measures to further improve the system of support for women, ensuring their active participation in public life”, the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan and regional administrations annually pay the tuition fees for 100 women, and universities – for up to 50 female students.

Also, the document stipulates that Women’s Support Fund will be established in the country. Up to 300 billion soums will be allocated annually from the State Budget to this Fund.

The Fund will provide one-time financial assistance in the amount of 80 billion soums to women who have lost their breadwinners, disabled women and those in need of care. In addition, 11 billion soums will be allocated for women living in rented houses to cover their rental payments.
