Ulugbek Muhammadiyev, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman), is expected to be replaced, most probably today, during the parliamentary session. The head of one of the Senate committees may take the office.
Muhammadiyev was elected Ombudsman in 2015, replacing Sayyora Rashidova, who held the post for 20 years since 1995.
Ulugbek Muhammadiyev was born in 1971 and graduated from Tashkent State University in 1993 with a degree in political science.
