The Chairperson of the Senate of Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva has commented on the proposal she had voiced earlier about starting sex education classes in educational institutions, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

“When I talked about sex education, our bloggers and journalists completely misunderstood this. The reason why I am talking about the need for sex education is that it is possible to prevent a number of health issues by taking girls to the gynecologist and boys to the urologist for a health check. If we take care of their health from a young age, infertility can be prevented.

In Uzbekistan, 15% of divorces occur due to infertility. There is infertility not only in women but also in men. Men are ashamed to go to the doctor. They marry a second or third woman. But it does not solve the problem – they will not have a child. The fault is in the man, but he does not want to receive treatment. We have to fight against such stereotypes,” Narbayeva said at a meeting of the National Commission to Combat Human Trafficking and Forced Labor on December 4.

It was noted that child trafficking has increased considerably in Uzbekistan. According to interviews with people who decided to adopt a child (people buying children), their only aim was to save their family as they did not have a child of their own.

Earlier, Tanzila Narbayeva spoke about the need to start sex education from kindergartens, and this has caused heated discussions on social networks.
