During the conversation, priority areas for further development of the Uzbek-Malaysian cooperation were discussed, the MFA press service reported.
“An exchange of views took place on measures taken in Uzbekistan and Malaysia against the spread of coronavirus. The parties expressed their willingness to cooperate in this direction, including in the field of developing medicines and vaccines against COVID-19,” the report said.
The need for the practical implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the governments of Uzbekistan and Malaysia in the field of science and technology, signed by the parties on November 17, 2008, was noted. Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached to organize a videoconference between experts in the field of health and science in the second half of June to exchange experience in combating the coronavirus and discuss issues of joint cooperation in the development of medicines and vaccines against COVID-19.
It is also planned to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Justice Ministry of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia in the field of forensic medical examination.
