Uzbekistan, Japan plan to jointly implement socio-economic projects in Afghanistan
On February 20, 2020, the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Yoshinori Fujiyama.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the efforts to expand cooperation on the Afghan issue, in particular to launch a peaceful negotiation process, as well as the implementation of various economic projects, the main purpose of which is to restore the socio-economic infrastructure of Afghanistan.
A thorough exchange of views took place between the parties on the current situation in Afghanistan, the efforts of the international community to resolve the conflict and establish a long-term and sustainable peace in the IRA.
During the conversation, the Ambassador also expressed confidence in a significant increase in the number of Japanese tourists visiting the magnificent archaeological sites of Uzbekistan, which are of great historical and cultural significance for the entire world civilization.
