Chairman of the “Milliy tiklanish” Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Alisher Kadirov was elected as a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis in the second round of elections held on January 5.
According to sources, Alisher Kadirov won the majority of votes (82 percent) in the 36th Pakhtakor constituency, Jizzakh region.
The constituency consists of 4 districts – Pakhtakor, Sharof Rashidov, Zafarobod and Zarbdor.
Only around 18 percent of voters voted in favor if his opponent Gulzoda Zukhurova, nominated from the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan.
It should be recalled that Kadirov failed to secure enough votes (31 percent) in the December 22 elections and had to wait for the results of the second round.
