Prosecuting bodies are taking steps to ensure the rule of law in the electoral process. As part of this activity, the Prosecutor General’s Office is constantly investigating information and reports on election-related violations in the media and on the Internet, including on social networks.
“On December 22, 2019, on the day of elections to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis and local councils of people’s deputies, information on violations of the law on holding elections in certain areas was published on the Internet.
In particular, information related to forcing the nominated candidates to the Council of People’s Deputies of Kashkadarya region to withdraw their candidacies, illegal interference in the work of polling stations 10, 23 and 142 in the Almazar district of Tashkent was disseminated on social networks. The district and precinct election commissions were illegally instructed to fill out a copy of the final protocol on vote count in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent and not to distribute copies of the protocol to anyone. Such reports caused discussion among the general public.
