On December 22, 2019, elections to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis and local Councils of people’s deputies will be held in Uzbekistan.
The 2019 elections are held in the context of large-scale systemic transformations launched in the country at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The work is underway to create all necessary conditions for the participation of Uzbek citizens living abroad in elections. Previously, only those, who were officially registered at the consular mission, could use their constitutional right. From now onwards, citizens of Uzbekistan, permanently or temporarily residing in foreign countries, can apply to polling stations open at diplomatic missions abroad.
In the city of Kazan (Russian Federation), the 52nd polling station of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan held a roundtable on the upcoming elections to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, with the participation of leaders of diasporas and students.
