On November 15, 2019, as part of the participation in the Diplomatic Conference for the adoption of the draft Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters Specific to Mining, Agricultural and Construction Equipment (MAC Protocol) in Pretoria, the delegation of Uzbekistan held inter-MFA consultations with the Republic of South Africa on legal and other issues of bilateral cooperation.

The South African delegation was headed by the Acting Director of the Department of Asia and the Middle East Terry Govender.

The parties agreed to create a legal basis for bilateral relations with an emphasis on concluding, initially, basic agreements.

The sides agreed on a draft Protocol on inter-MFA consultations, discussed the possibilities of elaborating draft intergovernmental agreements in the areas of protection and promotion of investments, avoidance of double taxation, and interaction in customs affairs.

In order to facilitate the establishment of direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries and the development of their interaction, an agreement was reached to regularly exchange information on trade and industrial fairs, exhibitions and business forums held in Uzbekistan and South Africa.
