On November 10, a talk show “Democratic debates” was organized among the political parties of Uzbekistan. Participants of the event discussed the consumer basket.
“This is one of the main issues in our election program. We propose setting minimum wages, allowances and stipends based on the consumer basket. In many countries, these figures are already defined and strengthened by law. In Uzbekistan, there is no such document yet,” the leader of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Inoyatov said.
At the same time, Ulugbek Inoyatov stated that in Tashkent, one breadwinner, receiving a salary of 2.5 million soums per month, can easily feed a family of five.
“Economists have calculated this,” he said.
The head of UzLiDeP Aktam Khayitov said that it is necessary to collect all the information and data, and then talk about the consumer basket.
“There are criteria. The basket includes 110-120 products. It’s necessary to calculate everything. It is too early to say that the sum of the consumer basket will be like that. For youth, adults and pensioners, we need to develop their own basket. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt subordinate acts, and then the law,” he said.
The chairman of the “Adolat” Social Democratic Party Narimon Umarov believes that it is “not an easy thing”.
“Economic policy is not just easy like that. Economists must make a clear calculation. This has not happened yet,” he said.
The leader of “Milliy tiklanish” Alisher Kodirov noted that this is a pressing issue. He promised that if the party takes the majority of seats in the parliament, then the deputies and the government will definitely consider this issue. The head of the Ecological Party Boriy Alikhanov also made a similar promise.
