The joint-stock company Uzdonmakhsulot commented on the information on increasing prices for a loaf of bread.

Earlier, it was reported that from November 4 in some stores and markets of Uzbekistan, price for a loaf of bread became 1,600-1,900 soums. According to Kun.uz correspondents, prices rose by an average of 100-200 soums in many places. In particular, if in several stores a loaf of bread is sold for 1,600 soums, then in the markets - for 1,700 soums.

According to the press service of the JSC Uzdonmakhsulot, within the company’s system, bread is produced in 109 workshops and enterprises. In particular, the “Toshkent non” is engaged in the production of bread in the capital. The company noted that the above enterprises sell a loaf of bread to retail and wholesale customers for 1,400-1,500 soums. The reason behind rising prices for bread is the increase of the cost of wheat products and flour, which is determined by the market.

“In addition, special shops with the logo of our company have been formed at places. At these sale points, bread is also sold for 1,400-1,500 soums,” the press service said.

It should be recalled that the last time prices rose on October 15 of this year. Then the loaf of bread began to be sold for 1,300-1,500 soums. Prior to this, prices rose in September 2018. For many years in Uzbekistan, a loaf of bread was sold for 600-650 soums.
