Ecological Party of Uzbekistan proposes replacing traditional plastic bags with biodegradable ones

The Ecological Party of Uzbekistan has taken the initiative to abandon the use of plastic bags, the decomposition period of which is more than 200 years, Nuz.uz writes.
As an alternative, the party proposed to consider the possibility of replacing traditional plastic bags with biodegradable ones. Specialists of ECO PACK LLC developed samples of such packages that are not harmful to the environment.
The price of these packages in mass production will not exceed 230-240 soums.
As the employees of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan noted, in accordance with the presidential decree “On measures to further improve the system of household waste management” signed on May 18, 2018, the production of plastic bags less than 40 microns thick is prohibited in the country. However, their production and use continues.
