Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received on October 4, 2019, the newly appointed Ambassador of Portugal with residence in Moscow João Paulo Lopes do Reg Viseu Pinheiro, the press service of the MFA said.

Accepting his credentials, the Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in a high and responsible post.

At the meeting, the current state and prospects of Uzbekistan – Portuguese relations in a bilateral format and within the framework of Uzbekistan – EU dialogue were considered.

Mutual interest was noted in further deepening cooperation in political, trade-economic, investment, tourism sectors, in education, science and health.

It was emphasized that the resumption of regular consultations between the foreign affairs agencies of the two countries on the entire common agenda will allow focusing on promising areas and specific projects and working together on their implementation.

Views were also exchanged on the issues of an international and regional agenda.
