On October 1, 2019, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who is on a visit in France, met with the Secretary of State to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, the MFA press service reports.
Kamilov conveyed President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s message of condolences to the French side on the death of former French President Jacques Chirac. It was noted that Jacques Chirac was the real leader of his country, playing an important role in the history of the modern France and improving its international authority.
It was emphasized that President Jacques Chirac made a huge personal contribution to strengthening the traditionally friendly relations between Uzbekistan and France.
The Secretary of State on behalf of the French side expressed gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for sincere condolences and words of support in connection with the bereavement.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues of the Uzbek-French agenda. It was stated that the sides are constantly monitoring the implementation of the agreements reached within the framework of the summit negotiations in October 2018 in Paris, and are interested in achieving concrete results in all areas of multifaceted cooperation.
Abdulaziz Kamilov and Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne also exchanged views on the schedule for the next round of inter-MFA political consultations, the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and other bilateral contacts in 2019-2020.
