Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Benelux countries Dilyor Khakimov met with the Managing Director of the European Neighborhood Council (ENC), Samuel Doveri Vesterbye, the MFA press service said.
ENC is an independent think tank that conducts research and implements projects with the aim of strengthening a common European Neighborhood Policy (ENP), Enlargement Policy and the promotion of a Global Strategy for the European Union’s (EU) Foreign and Security Policy. ENC conducts research that aims towards improved dialogue and neighborhood coordination among European Union (EU) Member States, EU Accession Countries, European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) countries, including also the “Neighbors of the Neighbors” (Central Asian Republics, Gulf Cooperation Council, Iraq, Iran, and Sahel Countries).
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of establishing cooperation between ENC and research-analytical, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, civil society institutions and the media in Uzbekistan.
In particular, European experts praised the reforms carried out in our country in such areas as modern technologies, renewable energy, freedom of the media, international political and economic relations, conflict prevention, and a dynamically expanding partnership with the EU.
Following the talks, a number of specific agreements were reached on joint development of training programs for representatives of Uzbekistan, which will include a series of mutual visits at the expert level, as well as lectures for students, representatives of the public and private sectors of our country.
