The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which runs Radio Liberty, commented on a statement by Komil Allamjonov, director of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications about violation of journalistic ethics by the Uzbek service of this publication (Ozodlik).

The CEO of the American agency John Lansing noted that USAGM takes all allegations of journalistic ethics very seriously, does not tolerate or justify bias on the part of any Radio Liberty service or journalist.

The head of the American Agency emphasized the “importance of adhering to the highest standards of objectivity and impartiality”, calling them “fundamental principles” that the USAGM adheres to.

The newly appointed president and CEO of the RFE/RL Jamie Fly, thanking for raising concerns about the activities of the RFE/RL's Uzbek Service, also noted a thorough study of the alleged facts.

It should be recalled that earlier Director of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications Komil Allamjonov expressed concern about working methods of the RFE/RL's Uzbek Service, noting the manifestations of bias and unprofessionalism in the work of this broadcasting organization in Uzbekistan. He also noted the facts of a fraudulent collection of information by Ozodlik, falsification of audio recordings and the use of “fake accounts” for the publication of unfounded messages.
