A criminal case has been instigated against former head of the State Security Service Ikhtiyor Abdullayev and his former first deputy Jakhongir Egamov. Kun.uz correspondent reports about it referring to the Deputy Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan Erkin Yuldashev.
During a briefing on the activities of prosecuting authorities, a representative of the prosecutor's office informed that former Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court Bakhodir Dehkanov was also detained within the framework of the same case.
“Due to the fact that a number of high-ranking government officials have been prosecuted, it is decided to conduct the investigation behind closed doors,” Erkin Yuldashev said.
Reportedly, about 10 people are being prosecuted.
Ikhtiyor Abdullayev headed the SSS from January 31, 2018 until February 2019. It was reported that he had been dismissed at his own will due to his deteriorating health.
Ikhtiyor Abdullayev had been a presidential advisor since 2009 and worked as the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan from April 2015 to January 31, 2018.
Jakhongir Egamov was the first deputy chairman of the SSS in January-December 2018.
For information, Bakhodir Dehkanov, who had served as the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court - the chairman of the administrative jury since May 2017, was arrested in February 2019.
