Ex-head of Presidential Security Service Muidjon Tokhiriy sentenced to 3.5 years in prison

The former head of the guard of Islam Karimov and the former chairman of the State Customs Committee Muidjon Tokhiriy was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison, Gazeta.uz said with reference to its source.

According to the report, Muidjon Tokhiriy was found guilty of committing crimes under Articles 167, 207 and 209 of the Criminal Code. The court sentenced him to imprisonment for a term of 3 years and 6 months with serving a sentence in a penal colony and a fine in the amount of 400 MMW with the deprivation of the right to occupy senior and materially responsible positions for a period of 3 years.

It should be recalled that Tokhiriy twice held the position of Deputy Chairman of the National Security Service (NSS) of Uzbekistan - from 2006 to 2008 and from 2011 to 2016. Over the years, he worked as deputy chairman of the Security Council, state adviser to the first president of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

From 2013 until the death of Islam Karimov, Tokhiriy led the Presidential Security Service.

In December 2016, Muidjon Tokhiriy was appointed head of the State Customs Committee and on February 12, 2018, he was dismissed.
