In Tashkent, as part of the XXIII international exhibition and the conference OGU-2019, signing a “roadmap” for implementing the main activities on the construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) in Uzbekistan in 2019-2020 was held.
The document was signed by the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov and Director General of the “Rosatom” state nuclear energy corporation Alexey Likhachev.
This roadmap defines specific steps for the second phase of the project. In particular, the document prescribes the algorithm for preparing the initial data for development of an environmental impact assessment (EIA), instructions for creating a preliminary report on the safety justification. The document also includes the stages of preparation and coordination of contracts for the project.
Recently, Likhachev also discussed with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev the issues of further cooperation to ensure quality preparation and implementation of the NPP construction project on the basis of the adopted roadmap.
As the presidential press service states, the country has already completed the first stage of engineering surveys on selection of the site of a future NPP.
