Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad celebrates Memory and Honor Day

On May 7, 2019, a festive event was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the city of Islamabad on the occasion of May 9 - Memory and Honor Day, to which representatives of the Uzbek diaspora permanently residing in Pakistan and Pakistani media were invited, the press service of the MFA said.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov congratulated the guests with a memorable date and elaborated on the significance of this day in the development of the country, the education of future generations.

The heroism of our compatriots during World War II, their generosity and humanism in relation to other people, who had their sorrows and sufferings, were especially noted.

The event attendees highly commended the fact that during the Second World War, the Uzbek people showed inherent generosity and mercy by accepting about one million evacuated children, women, old people, sharing with them the last piece of bread they had and shelter.
