On April 26, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Zhanshu in Beijing.

The head of our state emphasized that at the meeting with Xi Jinping yesterday, new prospects for cooperation were identified, which will further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between our countries.

Li Zhanshu expressed his deep satisfaction with the highest level of relationship achieved. It was emphasized that in recent years, bilateral exchanges in the trade-economic, investment, financial, cultural, humanitarian and many other areas have noticeably intensified.

Between the legislative bodies of Uzbekistan and China new dynamics of cooperation have been observed. Exchanges of parliamentary delegations have become regular, the partnership is consistently expanding.

The meeting addressed the issues of strengthening parliamentary control over the implementation of agreements at the highest level. In addition, it was emphasized that the inter-parliamentary dialogue serves as an important factor in enriching bilateral cooperation with practical content and promoting new programs and projects.

Li Zhanshu reaffirmed his readiness to make a real contribution to the implementation of the agreements achieved between our countries and to further develop a full-scale partnership.

He highly appreciated the socio-economic reforms being implemented in our country at the new stage, their real impact and effectiveness. According to him, in terms of their scale and goals, the policies and reforms of the President of Uzbekistan give every reason to compare him with the great Chinese reformer, Deng Xiaoping.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on enhancing inter-parliamentary contacts and holding joint events with the aim of studying in depth the experience in promoting effective reforms and transformations.
