South Korean President Moon Jae-in believes that it is necessary to expand cooperation with Uzbekistan on 5G mobile communication technologies, space technologies and new industries. He told about this in an interview with a number of Uzbek media representatives ahead of his state visit to Uzbekistan.

“While continuing to search for new opportunities for the implementation of bilateral cooperation projects, including the development of gas fields and the construction of power plants, it is also important to expand cooperation to such advanced knowledge-intensive areas as information and communication technologies (ICT), fifth-generation mobile communication technologies, space technologies and new industries, including medicine and bioindustry,” Moon Jae-in said.

The President noted that Korea “will generously share the experience of economic growth” and hopes that considerable results will be achieved between the countries, which will be felt by the peoples of the two nations.

According to him, last year the volume of bilateral trade reached a maximum of $2.1 billion in the entire history of relations between our countries.

“I have very high hopes for the future that our countries will create together. The trust and kind feelings that the peoples of the two states have for each other will become strong roots, and the experience of practical cooperation gained will be a useful nutrient medium. I hope that the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea will work together to open an era of peace and common prosperity in Eurasia,” noted Moon Jae-in.

According to the South Korean leader, the potential of economic cooperation between the two countries, which have a common vision of joint prosperity in Eurasia, seems limitless.

“For future-oriented economic cooperation, first of all, it is necessary to strengthen the institutional framework. Thanks to the current state visit, we plan to actively discuss projects and ways to further improve investment conditions. We hope that the companies of our countries will steadily enter the markets of the partner country, and bilateral trade and investment will grow even more,” Moon Jae-in added.

It should be noted that on April 18-21, at the invitation of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in will pay a state visit to Uzbekistan.

Following the visit, it is planned to adopt a joint declaration, sign a weighty package of intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents, trade contracts, as well as agreements on the implementation of investment projects.
