Consulate general of Uzbekistan opens in Vladivostok

The Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan has begun its work in Vladivostok. A solemn opening ceremony of the institution, which took place on March 1, was attended by the deputy governor of Primorsky Krai Konstantin Bogdanenko.
The Consulate General is located in the building 46 on Verkhneportovaya Street. This is the fifth diplomatic representation of the republic in Russia and the first in the Far East. The consulate general, headed by Rustam Ismailov, will deal with development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia in the territories of the Far Eastern Federal District, Primorye administration website reports.
During the ceremony, acting deputy governor of Primorsky Krai Konstantin Bogdanenko, Consul General of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Russia Mekhriddin Khayriddinov and the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Vladivostok Evgeny Volosastov addressed welcoming speeches to the participants of the event. After that, the flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan was solemnly raised. Additionally, honorary guests solemnly cut the ribbon as a sign of the official beginning of the work of the Consulate General.
On the same day, Konstantin Bogdanenko and the Consul General of Uzbekistan in Vladivostok Rustam Ismailov discussed plans for organizing future interaction during a bilateral meeting.
Commerce, tourism, transport and logistics were noted as the most important areas of cooperation between Primorye and Uzbekistan.
Konstantin Bogdanenko stressed that today eight enterprises with Uzbek investments are actively working in the region, all of them carry out their activities in the field of trade. At the end of 2018, volume of the trade turnover between Primorsky Krai and the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to $1,7 million.
