Ex-Chairman of the Customs Committee Muidjon Tokhiriy is arrested

Former Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan Muidjon Tokhiriy was detained. The press service of the Prosecutor-General's Office has confirmed this information to Kun.uz correspondent.
“Muidjon Tokhiriy has been arrested. Investigation is underway now. It is not expedient to provide other information in the light of the investigation’s secrecy,” head of the press service of the Prosecutor-General's Office Surayyo Rakhmonova said.
In December 2016, Muidjon Tokhiriy, who had been heading the first president Islam Karimov's security service, was appointed head of the State Customs Committee replacing Zokhid Dusanov. He was dismissed from the chairmanship of the committee in February 2018.
For information, Muidjon Tokhiriy had worked at various responsible posts of Uzbekistan’s law enforcement bodies. From September 2010 to June 2011 he was an adviser to the president. In 2013, he headed the presidential security service as well.
