Hikmatullo Turayev wins gold at the Judo Grand Prix in Tashkent

On November 10, Judo Grand Prix tournament, that is taking place in Tashkent, held contests among men in 73 kg, 81 kg weight categories, among women - 63 kg and 70 kg.
A compatriot athlete Hikmatullo Turayev defended the honor of Uzbekistan in the weight class up to 73 kg. During the competition, he overcame opponents from Romania, Sweden, France and the UAE and reached to the final. In the conclusive fight, he succeeded in defeating the German judoka Igor Vandtke. Thus, Turayev delivered the first gold medal to the national team of Uzbekistan in the Gran Prix.
It should be recalled that up to this point, Diyorbek Urozboyev (silver) in 60 kg, Sardor Nurillayev (silver) and Shakhram Akhadov (bronze) in 66 kg weight categories were among the prize-winning Uzbek athletes.
