Helena Fraser: We are pleased that the Uzbek Government adopted its national sustainable development goals (exclusive)

In accordance with the resolution “On measures to implement the national goals and objectives for sustainable development by 2030” adopted by the Government of Uzbekistan on October 20, 2018, necessary steps are being taken to improve the living standards of the population.

These national development goals fully align to the SDGs of the United Nations adopted in 2015.

Helena Fraser, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for the Republic of Uzbekistan, said during a talk with Kun.uz correspondent that the UN family in Uzbekistan were tremendously pleased with the Uzbek Government’s decision to adopt its national sustainable development goals.

“This means Uzbekistan has really brought the global goals to national level and decided which priorities it needs to focus on,” Ms. Helena Fraser noted.

Furthermore, she provided detailed information on the projects and pilots being carried out by the UN in cooperation with the Uzbek Government.

“As part of the resolution, we will be developing individual roadmaps to 2030 for each sustainable development goals and support the government to produce these roadmaps,” the UN Resident Coordinator added.
