All unauthorized road restrictions across Uzbekistan to be removed

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has ordered the removal of all unjustified traffic restriction signs installed by organizations and neighborhoods across Uzbekistan. This directive came during a government meeting focused on road safety, improving traffic infrastructure, and reducing congestion.

During the meeting, the president drew attention to growing public dissatisfaction over the closure of streets where administrative buildings of certain ministries, agencies, and local governments are located. He also noted that in already congested areas, government employees frequently occupy two or three lanes for parking.

In response to the president’s concerns, a survey involving 15,000 drivers was conducted. Many respondents in Tashkent and other major cities said they are forced to park on the roadside due to a lack of legal parking spaces.

“In general, there’s no one to listen to the concerns of ordinary drivers — no platform for communication,” the president remarked.

Relevant authorities have now been tasked with dismantling all baseless restriction signs placed by institutions and communities. Additionally, where ministry and agency employees have created public inconvenience by using streets as private parking spaces, photo and video surveillance systems must be installed to ensure accountability and enforcement.

The president emphasized that public servants should set an example by using public transport.

Furthermore, it was decided that — apart from officials specifically listed in a government-approved document — service vehicles used by senior officials will no longer receive priority on the roads.
