According to the Senate press service, it was the first official visit by the leadership of the Austrian Parliament to Uzbekistan. The visit marked an important milestone in the development of interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
During the talks, a wide range of issues was discussed, including the expansion of parliamentary ties, exchange of experience in social protection, development of tourism, strengthening of interregional cooperation, as well as matters related to sustainable development, women's rights, and youth policy.
Senate Chairperson Narbaeva highlighted that, thanks to the strong political will of the country’s President, the powers of the Parliament in Uzbekistan are steadily expanding, and women’s participation in politics is reaching new heights.
Both sides expressed interest in boosting interparliamentary cooperation, including within international parliamentary organizations. A number of specific initiatives were proposed, such as holding regular meetings between heads of parliaments and relevant committees, developing a joint action plan for friendship groups, and deepening interregional ties.
