Namangan deputy police chief transferred to Andijan after public dispute with Namangan mayor over speed radars
Mansur Gaziyev, formerly the head of the Traffic Safety Department of the Namangan Regional Police Department, has been appointed Deputy Chief of the Andijan Regional Police Department and Head of the Public Security Service. His transfer follows a public controversy involving a letter exchange with the mayor of Namangan city, Anvar Otakhojaev, regarding the removal of unauthorized speed radars.
According to Kun.uz sources, Gaziyev officially assumed his new role in Andijan just two days ago. The Andijan police press service confirmed his appointment.
The controversy began when Mayor Otakhojaev sent a letter to Gaziyev demanding the removal of illegally installed photo radars, arguing that they violated established regulations and were fueling public discontent.
In response, Lieutenant Colonel Gaziyev sent a letter stating that the mayor’s official vehicle had committed 47 traffic violations in 2024 alone. He further urged the mayor to critically examine repeated traffic violations committed by vehicles operated by the city administration and by the municipal governments of Davlatabad and Yangi Namangan districts. He also requested assistance in collecting overdue traffic fines.
The exchange attracted media attention and sparked public discussion, ultimately coinciding with Gaziyev’s reassignment to a new post.
