The electrification of the Bukhara–Urgench–Khiva railway line, stretching 465 kilometers, has now been fully completed. Along the route, 960 kilometers of protective fencing have been installed, and essential engineering structures have been constructed.
President Mirziyoyev announced that starting in 2026, six high-speed Hyundai Rotem electric trains purchased from South Korea will operate along this route. The new railway line will be named after Jaloliddin Manguberdi.
“In 2026, modern high-speed trains will begin running on this route. Most importantly, in the near future, these trains will also reach Nukus,” the president emphasized.
The travel time between Tashkent and Khiva will be reduced by nearly half – from 14 hours to 7 hours and 40 minutes. Freight capacity is expected to grow from 1 million to 6 million tons per year, while annual passenger traffic may exceed 3 million people.
