Electricity tariffs to rise starting May 1
A new electricity tariff system will come into effect in Uzbekistan starting May 1, according to a government resolution. Under the revised system, consumers will pay 600 UZS per kWh instead of 450 UZS for electricity consumption up to 200 kWh. The rate then will increase to 800 UZS per kWh for consumption from 201 kWh to 500 kWh.

The Ministry of Energy reports that the Cabinet of Ministers has adopted Resolution No. 194 titled āOn Amending and Supplementing the Schedule for Gradual Changes in Fuel and Energy Resource Prices for 2024ā2025 to Support Consumers of Fuel and Energy Resources.ā
This decision, developed in line with the instructions of the President, introduces consumer-friendly changes to the previously approved gradual tariff increase plan (Resolution No. 204, dated April 16, 2024).
One key change is the postponement of the fuel and energy price hike from April 1 to May 1.
Additionally, a new consumption range has been added within the differential tariff for households using between 201 kWh and 1,000 kWh. Starting from May 1, 2025, households will pay 800 UZS per kWh for consumption between 201 and 500 kWh. Previously, the rate of 1,000 UZS per kWh applied to all consumption within the 201ā1,000 kWh bracket.
For example, a household consuming an average of 500 kWh per month would currently pay 360,000 UZS: 90,000 UZS for the first 200 kWh (at the base rate), and 270,000 UZS for the next 300 kWh (at 1,000 UZS per kWh). With the new tariffs, the same household will still pay 360,000 UZS per monthābut with 120,000 UZS allocated to the first 200 kWh, and 240,000 UZS to the 201ā500 kWh range. In other words, there is no price increase for this category of consumers.
The resolution also introduces a policy whereby the prices of electricity and natural gas will be indexed annually, starting from May 1, based on the inflation rate, but not exceeding 10%.
