The signing ceremony took place on March 18, with the presence of European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen. The projects involve satellite provider SES, the Expertise France agency, and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

One of the projects, the "Connectivity for Central Asia" (C4CA) initiative, focuses on enhancing digital integration among the countries of the region. It involves the introduction of digital solutions aimed at strengthening regional ties and developing the economy.

The second agreement, "Satellite Connectivity for Remote Communities," is designed to provide high-speed internet to rural and isolated settlements. This will allow residents of these areas to access modern digital opportunities in education, healthcare, and business.

SES, with the support of an EU grant and an EIB loan, will deploy satellite technologies and ground terminals to connect remote regions in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan to the internet.

In addition to the technical aspects, the project includes working on creating a regulatory framework for satellite communication. Commissioner Urpilainen noted that the preparation of the legislative base has already begun, and the deployment of satellite stations is planned for 2025.

The project also includes the establishment of a regional satellite gateway in Uzbekistan, which will ensure the autonomy of the country’s digital infrastructure. Although its creation requires additional costs, it provides significant advantages in the management and operation of satellite communication.
