A street in Paris named after Samarkand

A formal ceremony was held to mark the naming of a street in Paris after Samarkand during a meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo.

As part of his state visit to France, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, according to the presidential press service.

At the beginning of the conversation, the head of state warmly congratulated the mayor on the successful hosting of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. He also expressed his gratitude for naming a street in Paris after Samarkand.

In response, Anne Hidalgo thanked the Uzbek leader for the support provided in ensuring public safety during the Olympic events.

During the meeting, it was noted with great satisfaction that this visit by the President of Uzbekistan had yielded historic outcomes, elevating the multifaceted relations between the two countries to the level of strategic partnership.

Discussions were held on activating practical cooperation and exchanges between Tashkent and Paris based on the agreements signed.

The topics included urban planning, the development of green spaces, the enhancement of public transportation, digitalization, and the modernization and sustainable use of city infrastructure.

Additionally, the parties explored opportunities to organize joint exhibitions, cultural and artistic events, as well as tourism and gastronomic festivals.

The meeting concluded with an official ceremony dedicated to the naming of a street in Paris after Samarkand.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Mayor of Paris signed a joint document recognizing the Uzbek president’s visit to the city as an honorary guest. This commemorative plaque will be displayed in the Paris City Hall Museum.
