FM Bakhtiyor Saidov holds high-level talks in Jeddah with GCC and MENA counterparts
During his visit to Jeddah, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, held a series of high-level meetings with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Türkiye, Oman, and Kuwait. The discussions focused on strengthening diplomatic, economic, and investment ties, as well as regional and international cooperation.

Strengthening ties with Saudi Arabia
Minister Saidov met with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, to discuss the rapid development of bilateral relations. He emphasized the growing joint investment portfolio, increasing tourism and economic ties, and the shared ambition to elevate the partnership to a new level. Both ministers also explored ways to enhance cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Central Asia.
Expanding cooperation with Egypt
In a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Minister Saidov reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to deepening ties with Egypt. He outlined an ambitious agenda for 2025, which includes high-level engagements, the 12th round of political consultations, parliamentary exchanges, and the 8th Joint Intergovernmental Commission. Both sides expressed confidence in expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
Enhancing strategic partnership with Türkiye
During talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, both officials underlined the importance of regular dialogue in reinforcing the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Türkiye. They reviewed the implementation of agreements reached by their leaders, preparations for the 4th High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting in Tashkent, and the update of the Preferential Trade Agreement.
Unlocking economic potential with Oman
Minister Saidov also met with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, expressing appreciation for his recent visit to Tashkent. Both sides emphasized the untapped economic potential between their countries and prioritized political consultations, joint intergovernmental commissions, business exchanges, and negotiations on direct air routes.
Deepening bilateral relations with Kuwait
In discussions with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, the focus was on implementing agreements from the recent visit of Uzbekistan’s President to Kuwait. The ministers agreed to expand cooperation in key sectors, strengthen strategic partnerships, and enhance engagement on regional and international issues.
