Shavkat Mirziyoyev approves migration agreement with Germany
On March 4, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev issued a decree approving the migration agreement between Uzbekistan and Germany, following the parties' agreement last September to simplify the recruitment of skilled specialists.

The comprehensive partnership agreement on migration and mobility was signed on September 15, 2024, in Samarkand. It was one of eight documents signed during the visit to Uzbekistan by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The competent authority for implementing the document concerning external labor migration is the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, while the Ministry of Internal Affairs is responsible for readmission.
According to Euronews, the agreement simplifies the entry of qualified specialists from Uzbekistan to Germany. The document also provides for the accelerated deportation of individuals without legal status.
Behzod Musaev, who was the Minister of Employment at the time of the agreement's signing, called it "the first step toward establishing transparent and organized labor migration." The document had been in preparation for about a year and provides for a long-term partnership "for 10, 20, or 30 years," he added.
One of the projects being implemented within the framework of the new agreement is the organized recruitment of 800 nurses to work in Germany, with salaries starting from €2,200. There are also plans to establish training for train drivers and bus drivers in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn.
In addition to simplifying recruitment, the parties agreed to organize training for workers in Uzbekistan. For example, a nursing academy will be established at the Ibn Sina Public Health College in partnership with the Aachen University Hospital.
