Uzbek language exam becomes mandatory for all school graduates
Starting in 2025, all 11th-grade graduates, regardless of their language of instruction, will be required to pass a final exam in the state language.

A decree from the Minister of Preschool and School Education has established the procedures for conducting the final state certification in general educational institutions, outlining the subjects, exam formats, and a list of general education subjects.
The decree also specifies international and national certificates that confirm proficiency in foreign languages.
According to the new procedure, the final state certification for 9th-grade students includes the following subjects:
- Native language and literature (for classes taught in Uzbek) – written exam
- State language (for classes taught in a language other than Uzbek) – written exam
- Mathematics – written exam
- History of Uzbekistan – written or oral exam
- Physical education – practical exam
For 11th-grade students, the final state certification includes the following subjects:
- Native language and literature (for classes taught in Uzbek) – written exam
- State language (for classes taught in a language other than Uzbek) – written exam
- Mathematics (basic) / Mathematics (advanced) – written exam
- History – written exam
Starting in 2025, all 11th-grade graduates from general educational institutions where the language of instruction is not Uzbek will also be required to take the final exam in the state language.
At the student's discretion, they may choose one of the following subjects:
- Native language and literature (for classes taught in Karakalpak, Russian, Kazakh, Turkmen, Tajik, or Kyrgyz), Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Fundamentals of State and Law, or Geography – written exam
- Foreign language – written or oral exam
