Temu faces potential ban in Uzbekistan

The National Agency for Prospective Projects (NAPP) official has announced that the Chinese marketplace Temu could be blocked in Uzbekistan if it fails to legalize its operations and register a local entity.

Kamronbek Muhammadiyev, the Head of the E-commerce Department at the NAPP, explains that starting from July 1, 2025, new regulations for international platforms will be introduced in Uzbekistan, including notification procedures and a special registry for e-commerce entities.

The primary requirement is to legalize operations within the country and register a resident legal entity, a rule that has been in effect since December 28, 2024.

Furthermore, the agency emphasized its willingness to protect the legal rights and interests of these platforms and assist in their official entry into the Uzbek market. However, Temu has shown no interest in complying with these requirements. As a result, if these conditions are not met, its operations may be suspended or even blocked.

This mobile app has become one of the most popular apps in Uzbekistan since the end of last year. Currently, the Chinese marketplace ranks second on the App Store and holds the top position on Google Play.
