Construction company officials to face hefty fines for dust emissions under new law
Currently, national legislation does not explicitly hold construction officials accountable for dust emissions, despite existing air protection requirements and urban planning regulations. A new amendment addresses this gap by establishing liability for air quality violations at construction sites.

At the next plenary session of the Senate, the draft law "On Amendments and Additions to the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Establishment of Mandatory Requirements to Prevent the Rise of Dust and Sand Particles in Construction Sites" was discussed, according to the Senate's press service.
According to the law, failure to comply with mandatory requirements to prevent the rise of dust and sand particles in construction sites measuring 500 square meters or more, in adjacent areas, and on exit roads, as well as allowing the release of pollutants into the atmosphere exceeding permissible norms, will result in a fine of 10 times the base calculation unit (BCU) (3,750,000 UZS) for responsible officials.
Furthermore, if such a violation is repeated within one year after administrative penalties have been applied, a fine of 50 times the BCU (18,750,000 UZS) will be imposed.
The adoption of this law will help prevent the uncontrolled release of dust and sand particles into the air during the construction, reconstruction, and major repair of buildings, structures, and complexes.
At the end of the discussion, the law was approved by the senators.
