Uzbekistan to introduce automatic pension allocation without applications
Uzbekistan is transitioning to a proactive pension system, eliminating the need for citizens to submit applications upon reaching retirement age.

On February 13, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis approved the law "On Transition to a Proactive Pension Allocation System" in the first reading, according to the press service of the lower house of parliament.
This draft law introduces amendments and additions to the Law "On State Pension Provision for Citizens." It establishes a procedure for granting age-based pensions proactively — without requiring a separate application — when citizens reach the retirement age (60 years for men and 55 years for women).
Currently, citizens must apply for a pension and provide documents confirming their entitlement to payments. With the new system, this process will be automated through information exchange between relevant ministries and agencies.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Gulnora Rahimova stated that these changes will eliminate the need for an average of 250,000 citizens per year to visit the Pension Fund and public service centers, saving both time and resources.
"The adoption of this law will contribute to improving the quality of state services by actively implementing modern digital technologies in the pension allocation system," the statement said.
It should be noted that according to a presidential decree dated October 31, 2023, the proactive pension allocation system is planned to be launched on March 1, 2025. Additionally, by March 1, citizens will receive SMS notifications on their mobile devices regarding their pension allocation or the need to submit additional documents affecting the pension amount.
