The agency’s director, Bahodir Rakhmatov, met with a delegation from Reformatics led by its managing partner, Nika Gilauri. The meeting was attended by Aziz Abdukhaimov, the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, and Umid Shadiev, the Chairman of the Tourism Committee.

The discussion focused on the prospects for attracting investment into the local tourism industry and its infrastructure, as well as the development of new tourism segments and the integration of digital solutions. Experts highlighted the potential for growing both regional and international tourism in Uzbekistan.

As a result of the meeting, a trilateral agreement was signed between the Tourism Committee, the Agency for Strategic Reforms, and Reformatics. Under the agreement, Reformatics will provide expert support to the government in developing a tourism development strategy through 2040.

The goal is to increase the tourism sector’s contribution to the economy to 7% of GDP by 2040. The plan aims to boost domestic tourist arrivals to 30 million per year and international arrivals to 20 million.

To achieve these goals, a comprehensive set of measures will be implemented, including the analysis of tourist flows, the creation of a global marketing strategy, and the development of new routes and destinations. Investment packages will also be created to improve infrastructure in key tourist areas.

Special emphasis will be placed on the adoption of digital technologies and "green" solutions, as noted by the Tourism Committee. The strategy will draw on the best practices from countries with well-developed tourism industries.

As part of this partnership, Reformatics plans to establish an office in Tashkent. The company’s experts will work closely with local tourism businesses, tour operators, investors, and government agencies.
