The President's aide, Saida Mirziyoyeva, highlighted that Uzbekistan made significant strides in 2024 towards joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), listing key achievements and emphasizing that work will continue at the same pace this year to secure full membership in the organization. "We will continue at this pace in the current year to soon become a full member of the organization," she stated.

"Last year, the WTO Working Group held two crucial meetings. This enabled us to begin drafting the key document for membership—the Working Group Report. Additionally, bilateral negotiations were concluded with 15 countries, including the United States, China, and Japan. As a result, Uzbekistan has signed 23 agreements.

In a short period, 20 important laws were enacted to enhance business transparency and competition.

We will continue this momentum throughout the year to secure full membership in the Organization. This will not only boost our country’s investment appeal but also help Uzbek businesses integrate into regional and global value chains.

The ultimate goal of both WTO membership and the ongoing reforms led by the president is, without a doubt, to ensure the prosperity of our people, create quality jobs, and transition the economy to a more efficient governance model," Mirziyoyeva wrote on her Telegram channel.

It’s also worth noting that one of the requirements for WTO membership was met on January 1: the suspension of transport cost compensation for exporters, and the abolition of tax exemptions on income and turnover taxes.
