Uzbekistan sees increase in 200,000 UZS banknotes in circulation

In 2024, the Central Bank issued additional cash, increasing the number of banknotes in circulation by 152 million units.

As of January 1, 2025, there were several changes in the composition of cash by nominal value:

  • The share of 200,000 UZS banknotes increased from 18.6% to 23.4%;
  • The share of 20,000 UZS banknotes increased from 4.4% to 6.7%;
  • The share of 100,000 UZS banknotes decreased from 42.5% to 40.9%;
  • The share of 50,000 UZS banknotes decreased from 20.5% to 16.6%;
  • The share of 10,000 UZS banknotes decreased from 7.3% to 7%;
  • The share of 5,000 UZS banknotes decreased from 5.3% to 4.1%;
  • The share of 2,000 UZS banknotes increased from 0.6% to 0.7%;
  • The share of 1,000 UZS banknotes decreased from 0.7% to 0.6%.

The Central Bank continues to gradually withdraw old-series banknotes from circulation and replace them with new ones. As a result, the share of old banknotes in circulation has significantly decreased.
