Pop district emergency department head arrested in $160,000 bribery case
The head of the Pop district emergency department in Namangan region was caught red-handed during a sting operation with $160,000. He had promised to secure the formal registration of a 2-hectare plot of land in the buyer's name through his influential connections and obtain approval to construct cottage-style houses on the site.

According to UzA, the land in question had been allocated to the department head's family members in February 2021 by a decision of the district governor. It was intended for setting up a greenhouse to grow lemons. However, the official used his position to promise the transfer of the land and construction permissions in exchange for the large sum of money. Law enforcement agents apprehended him while receiving the cash.
The case has been opened under Articles 25 and 168, part 4(a), of the Criminal Code (Fraud) and Articles 28 and 211, part 2(b) (Bribery). An investigation is currently underway.
In a separate incident, the head of the rapid response unit of the Syrdarya region's Saykhunabad district emergency department was also caught in a sting operation, taking $7,000. He had promised a 30-year-old resident of Guliston that he could secure employment for them at the city’s emergency department using his high-level connections.
This official is being investigated under Articles 168, part 3(v), and 28, 211, part 1, of the Criminal Code.
Earlier, it was reported that an officer of the Samarkand regional internal affairs department was detained with $10,000 in another corruption-related case.
