At around 3:00 a.m., a gas explosion rocked a house on Ipak Yuli Street in the Shomat neighborhood. The explosion happened when the homeowner attempted to ignite a homemade heating device, sparking an accumulation of natural gas and air inside the room.
The blast inflicted severe burns on the homeowner, who suffered burns over 90% of his body. His wife sustained burns covering 35–40% of her body, their son 20–30%, and their daughter 70%.
Emergency services, including the acting district prosecutor, the head of the district police, representatives from the emergency response department, and the gas supply office, promptly arrived at the scene. The injured were rushed to the regional emergency medical center for treatment.
Tragically, the family’s minor daughter succumbed to her injuries on January 4 despite medical intervention. The homeowner and his son remain hospitalized in the district medical facility, while his wife is undergoing treatment at the Andijan Republican Burn Center.
A forensic medical examination has been ordered to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the explosion. The district prosecutor’s office is conducting a pre-investigative review to determine the cause of the incident and assess potential violations.
