The initial phase of the reform will merge waste management and electricity payments, with plans to integrate gas and water payments at a later stage. Kodirov emphasized that this initiative aims to enhance efficiency and improve the quality of utility services across the country.

"Waste management and electricity payments will be unified into one system, and payments for gas and water will follow. The goal is to establish an efficient system that provides high-quality utility services," Kodirov shared on his Telegram channel.

The initiative comes as the country grapples with significant unpaid utility bills. As of October this year, the population’s debt for sanitation services alone had reached 585 billion UZS. The integration of payment systems is expected to streamline collections and ensure more consistent service delivery.

In October, Kun.uz reported that citizens with outstanding waste management debts would be unable to pay for electricity services, highlighting the need for stricter measures to enforce payment compliance.
