According to the customs service of the neighboring country, Turkmenistan has opened the upgraded "Farab Highway" customs and border post. This initiative is part of Turkmenistan's broader program to develop its customs authorities from 2022 to 2028.
The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan is actively working to modernize and digitalize its customs operations, aiming to enhance transit corridors that pass through the country. This includes improving the efficiency of both civilian border and customs posts.
The "Farab Highway" post, situated along several major international transit routes, has undergone substantial reconstruction to accommodate the growing volume of transit freight traffic. The post's area has been expanded from 5.2 hectares to 10 hectares. It can now inspect up to 16 freight vehicles simultaneously, significantly increasing its throughput capacity to 1,000 freight vehicles per day.
