Uzbekistan’s new ambassador to Turkmenistan assumes duties

During the meeting, Minister Meredov congratulated Ambassador Alimov on his new role and expressed Turkmenistan’s readiness to support his diplomatic mission. The two sides emphasized the strong state-level dialogue between their countries, fostered by the political will of their leaders, according to the Turkmenportal news outlet.

The discussions highlighted the alignment of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan on key regional and global issues. Both nations also noted the steady progress in trade and economic cooperation as well as humanitarian partnerships.

Ambassador Alimov arrived in Turkmenistan’s capital on November 29. His extensive diplomatic career includes serving as Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Affairs, Foreign Investments, and Tourism from 2020 to 2024. Prior to this, Alimov held ambassadorial roles in Ukraine (concurrently with Moldova), and France (concurrently with Portugal), reflecting his vast experience in diplomacy.
