The Yunusabad District Criminal Court sentenced Saidaliev and 22 co-defendants to prison terms ranging from five to 20 years on August 5, 2024. Saidaliev, the case’s main defendant, was convicted of multiple charges, including extortion, fraud, organizing a criminal group, laundering criminal proceeds, hooliganism, and bribery. He received a 20-year prison sentence.

The defendants challenged the verdict, arguing for a review of their cases. However, the appeals panel of the Tashkent City Court affirmed the original judgment, deeming the convictions and sentences appropriate based on the evidence presented.

The initial ruling also imposed penalties on the other defendants. While most received prison terms, two individuals were sentenced to corrective labor, and three were subjected to restricted freedom measures. One defendant avoided punishment due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

Furthermore, the court ordered financial restitution. Sixteen defendants are required to compensate victims for material damages. Assets acquired through Saidaliev's illicit activities will be liquidated to cover the financial losses incurred by the crimes.

The “Saidaziz Medgorodok” case has drawn significant public attention due to its scope and the severity of the charges. The final decision solidifies the accountability measures for one of the most notable criminal cases in recent years in Uzbekistan.
